Hello dancers and dance enthusiasts!

We have had a full year of growing, dancing and positive change. As our little studio continues to enjoy the many benefits dance bring to us, we are always looking forward to different projects.

On June 16, Ancient Moves Dance Company appeared with our friends the Light of East Ensemble (eastern musical group), at this year's Taste of Glenhyrst (Marrakech theme). It was a fantastic evening of food, music, entertainment and socializing, raising funds for the arts in Brantford.

July 29 and 30, we hosted workshops with international instructor Keti Sharif. Friday's workshops were planned for Pulse 8 Instructor Training while Saturday's workshops were open to all interested in belly dancing. Participants learned a great deal about integrating natural elements into their dance. An extraordinary day with an inspirational instructor. Afterward, refreshments and dance demonstrations were shared in an intimate gathering. Karimah would like to personally thank everyone to taking part in this special day.

Past Events (to name just a few)

In May 2015, Karimah traveled to Perth Australia for public speaking and offered three different workshops relating to her highly engaging core-centred approaches to dance, Pilates, and a specialized choreography. While there, she also offered a memorable performance at a gala function and got to meet and mingle with some of the best dancers/choreographers from all over the world. May the journeys continue.

On International Women's Day, Ancient Moves Studio Instructors offered four separate dance lessons with the theme "INSPIRING CHANGE"; which encourages advocacy for women's advancement everywhere in every way. Many women came to the studio to help us honor this day. Class fees were waived and replaced by a suggested donation to go to a women's charity.

We are always pleased to visit dance teachers and their students in neighboring cities. Once again, Karimah and the Ancient Moves Crew appeared in Ishra and Invoketress Dance Company's Belly Blush show in Guelph, Ontario. Other's artisitic contributions included Willow's Halloween show in Kitchener as well as an Aladin production in London, Ontario. Always on the move!

Less recently, a small event was held with instructors and participants called, "Do You Think You Can Dance." Hosted by the Canadian Cancer Society of Brantford, pledges were offered at $25 per person. Karimah lead the belly dance session while Faith lead Bollywood. Other styles including Zumba and line dancing were presented as well. There is no event too small for such an important cause.

Brantford International Villages Festival, New York, New York (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015): With the help of the Kinsmen of Brantford, Karimah and the Ancient Moves Dance Company put on a full show with four different acts each night during the festival. Have a piece of cheese cake and check out our "New York City Shimmy" theme, which is different every year. Many cultures are involved in this festival. http://www.brantfordvillages.ca/

Tillsonburg Festival of Music, Canada Day (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014). Karimah, the Ancient Moves Dancers and Friends delivered a great, casual dance show and instruction. Perhaps one day, the community will offer this celebration again. http://www.tillsonburgfestivalofmusic.ca/

Keti Sharif in brief (Sept 9, 2012): It certainly was an amazing summer. We had a blast here recently when we hosted a presentation by Keti Sharif. She captivated us with her genuine knowledge of the cultural dance we love through a free talk about the Essence and Energy of Bellydance, workshop on Bellydance Creativity and film screening of her documentary, Farida. It's hard to believe that this international creator of art and researcher for culture made Brantford, Ontario one of her stops on a two-month, world-wide tour. We really did appreciate the opportunity to learn from her. www.ketisharif.com

Culture Days (Sept, 2012, 2013): We look forward to Culture Days each year. Ancient Moves Dance Company and Friends will be offered full sessions of instruction in belly dance and bollywood to their community. Check out what is going on in your community each year. Many free events to choose from!! www.culturedays.com

Belly Dance BiZaRre (2010, 2011, 2012): Thanks to hosts from BellyUp studio for this fun annual Halloween Belly Dance show in Kitchener! Audiences get to see a spooktacular show as everyone gets to see belly dance at it's most creative level; fused with a Halloween theme. Workshops are being held all weekend too!
